Our Team

William C. McDonald, MD

My principle goals are to apply the best available traditional and molecular tools to diagnostic neuropathology, to teach those with an interest in neuropathology, and to develop collaborative research projects in the study of pituitary adenoma, infiltrating gliomas and other brain tumors. Other interests within the field of neuropathology include CNS infectious diseases, muscle and nerve pathology, and neurodegenerative disease. My current research applies machine learning techniques in diagnostic areas that lack clear gold standards. I’m also interested in applications of telepathology and image analysis.

I enjoy travel, especially to Germany, and I follow German news almost daily.

I don’t own a car (I drive my wife’s Honda Fit), but I bought my own whole slide imager so that I could learn the details of telepathology, digital pathology and image analysis.
