I am very excited to join the HPA team as the Systems Laboratory Medical Director. I began my career as a basic scientist, earning my PhD in Immunology and Infectious Diseases from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Later I earned my MD from Louisiana State University and began my Pathology residency at LSU. Hurricane Katrina blew me back to my home in NY, where I finished my residency at New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell. I completed my fellowship at UC San Francisco, then became Medical Director of the Blood Bank lab at University of Minnesota, where I have worked for the last 16 years. I’ve also served as the Chief Medical Officer for the AABB for the last seven years. I love to travel, hike, read, bake sourdough bread, and putter in my garden.
