Hospital Pathology Associates (HPA) is a 40-pathologist private practice located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our growing practice is seeking a Clinical Pathology System Medical Director to provide medical direction and oversight for clinical pathology services in one of Minnesota’s largest health systems. The individual selected will serve as the Laboratory Medical Director as well as the CLIA Director for a centralized laboratory servicing the greater metropolitan and surrounding communities.
This is a unique opportunity to join a successful pathologist-owned practice. Our practice model is ‘interventional’ pathology, working closely with clinical team members to provide the highest standard of care. We extend the same level of service and subspecialty expertise to rural critical access hospitals as well as tertiary and quaternary hospitals.
As the Clinical Pathology System Medical Director, you will work closely with clinical and laboratory leaders, as well as laboratory operations teams, to ensure high-quality laboratory services system-wide. This fully integrated and standardized health system comprises 12 hospital campuses, is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and the American Association for Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), and features a single electronic medical record and laboratory information system.
Employment Package
The expected starting salary range for this position is $280,000 to $500,000 based on the experience of the candidates.

Qualifications
- Must have education, board certification, and experience to meet CLIA requirements for the director of a high complexity laboratory.
- MD or DO, board certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology. Must be able to obtain unrestricted Minnesota and Wisconsin licenses. OR
- Doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution, and be certified and continue to be certified by a board approved by HHS. In addition, at least 2 years of: Laboratory training or experience, and Laboratory experience directing or supervising high complexity testing.
- Must be able to obtain privileges at all hospitals/facilities we service.
- Must be work-authorized without needing sponsorship (HPA is not able to sponsor visas).
