Introductory Note:  I have a long-standing professional interest in diagnostic hematopathology, which I regard as a subspecialty of diagnostic surgical pathology.  During various fellowships, I was fortunate to study with outstanding hematopathologists and surgical pathologists at Stanford University (Ronald Dorfman, Roger Warnke, Richard Kempson) and the University of Minnesota (Richard Brunning, Glauco Frizzera).  My professional experience includes sign-out responsibilities in both hematopathology (lymph nodes and bone marrows) and general surgical pathology at the University of Minnesota (1988-1990) and the Mayo Clinic ( 1990-1999).  I continue to have similar interests and responsibilities in my current position with Hospital Pathology Associates (1999 to current).
