Division of Dermatopathology Dr Robert Werling, a Board-Certified Dermatopathologist and Surgical Pathologist, is director of Hospital Pathology Associates' Division of Dermatopathology. He has been practicing Dermatopathology in the Twin Cities since 2003. A member of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, he was recently named Faculty Teacher of the Year by the Dermatology residents. He also regularly lectures medical students during their Dermatology rotation at Hennepin County Medical Center. Dr. Werling also has a faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Minnesota, in which capacity he teaches Dermatopathology to Pathology residents at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. His additional fellowship training in Diagnostic Immunohistochemistry uniquely qualifies Dr. Werling to be Co-Director of Allina's Immunohistochemistry (IHC) laboratory at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, where he oversees processing of and interprets all cutaneous biopsies for Direct Immunofluorescence, as well as reviewing all skin biopsies sent by outside clients for IHC-only. With memberships in the Minnesota Dermatologic Society, American Academy of Dermatology, and American Society of Dermatopathology, he also participates in local, state, and national Dermatology and Dermatopathology meetings.
